About Indiana Association of Medical Staff Services

The Indiana Association of Medical Staff Services (INAMSS); an affiliate of the National Association for Medical Staff Services and of the Indiana Hospital and Health Association (IHA). We were officially established on March 21, 1986, in South Bend, Indiana, by enthusiastic medical staff professionals.

From a handful of original members, INAMSS now consists of more than 160 credentialing and Medical Staff Service Professionals throughout the state. The Association continues to promote the original goals and objectives of our founding members through regular meetings and an annual education conference.

About Medical Service Professionals

Medical service professionals (MSPs) are an essential part of any healthcare organization. MSPs are primarily accountable for the administrative and medical-legal structure of the medical staff organization.

Some of the most important responsibilities of MSPs are:

  • Credentialing and recredentialing of all physicians and allied health practitioners.

  • Maintaining numerous physician information data banks, including education training, experience and licensure.

  • Maintaining an accredited continuing medical education (CME) program and providing CME for physicians to maintain their clinical competency.

  • Reviewing and implementing various federal rulings and accrediting body standards pertaining to the functions of the medical and/or provider staff.

  • Establishing systems to facilitate meetings and communication between physicians, both within and outside their specialties, as well as with a hospital’s administration

  • Developing, establishing, and enforcing of medical staff bylaws, rules and regulations, and policies that govern the activities of the medical staff.

Our mission is to:

  • Promote a positive and professional image of the medical staff professional and credentialing specialist.

  • Develop opportunities for networking.

  • Create an atmosphere to promote understanding of continuous changes in the organizational structure of healthcare.

  • To stimulate professional education activities through formalized workshops and programs that improve skills and competence.

  • Promote Educational Certification within our healthcare industry.
